Mid Year Freak out ....

Mine is a little different than the ones you see all over booktok, bookstagram or booktube, for two reasons.

Reason one - I decided to use star stickers and go through all the books I physically own and put stickers on the ones I have read. According to goodreads I own 300 ish books. I know I am missing a few.  That doesn't count comics or graphic novels just books. I may have 7 comic boxes, 3 are already read and 4 to be read lol  Anyway the page of stickers has 54 stars on it.  I used 31 of those stars. So that means I have 269 books on my physical tbr  Now that doesn't count my Harry Potter books, or companion ones. That is another 120 ish books.  Seeing it in black and white I am thinking that's not too bad.  I just hope I don't have too many uncatalogued books.  I will worry about that another day lol

Reason two - I started the year doing my first ever reading prompt challenges. 7 challenges to be exact. But what I didn't take into consideration that 3 of them would have mini challenges coming out from time to time throughout the year. Which to date is another 17 (which doesn't include 3 I have completed) plus the end of the year isn't here yet so more to come.  The bulk of those have no set date and I know they don't need to be done but what is the fun in that. I know I have plenty of time yet. I have a list of books printed up to keep me focused on the books I need to read. But at the same time I am like help. I must be crazy.

I am already thinking about next years challenges and I plan to cut back to 3 or 4 main challenges so I am not so overwhelmed when the mini ones come out.

Anyway I have read 35 books.

21 physical books, 14 kindle books, 9 where graphic novels.

Five were 5 star reads, four were 3 stars, the rest were 4 stars.

Oh dear god, you don't even what to know how many books I have on my kindle that needs to be read. lets just say almost 1300 ish 😱

Anyway here's my mid year freak out.  Do I have a reason to freak out?

2023 Reading Challenge Info .....

I have decided to start over on here, since I haven't been active since 2021 and I had only like 100 posts and nothing consistent.

This year for the first time I am doing book challenges. I may have bit off more then I can chew or in this case read but I am having so much fun seeing how much I can get read and how many prompts I can fill in.

Book challenges
The 52 book club's 2023 reading challenge plus mini challenges
          POPSUGAR 2023 reading challenge
Creating & Co 2023 Reading Royalty challenge plus mini challenges
          Buzzword 2023 reading challenge
          Read your bookshelf 2023 challenge
          LiterALLy BOOKish's Alphabet title challenge
The Nerdy Bookworm 50 books a year reading challenge 2023

Plus I always do the x number of books a year through Goodreads, same as last year 52 books and the quarterly kindle challenges.

With all these challenges I want to read my physical books and kindle books before using the library or buying any books for the challenges. I plan to use comics, graphic novels, audiobooks and rereads as well.

I have had so much fun sitting down with all the prompts and planning out the books I want to read for them. I have multiple books for each prompt in most cases because I am a mood reader and you just never know what I will be in the mood for.

I know their are prompts that I won't be doing. Just not interesting in those types of books. While I know these challenges are meant to help get you out of your comfort zone but for me that is a one way ticket to a reading slump. If I have to read a book then I am done.

I plan to use one book over multiple prompts if I can but not in the same challenge unless it is a mini challenge.

I will be doing a book journal to keep track of the books I read this year for the first time and what prompts I use for each book. I got one off of Amazon.

Plus I have a binder with all the challenges printed out. I know totally old school but I love it. Keeps everything organized and at hand to keep me on track.

I am using Storygraph for the digital tracking of my challenges. I have plans to print them out at the end of the year on sticker paper and add it to a bullet journal that I will be making through out the year.

Can't you tell I have too much time on my hands. lol

Will update this post as I go with other reading challenge info as I go.
